Tillandsia caput-medusae, aka an Air Plant, is a species of flowering plant in the bromeliad family, Bromeliaceae, subfamily Tillandsioideae. Common names include octopus plant and medusa's head. An epiphyte native to Central America and Mexico, T. caput-medusae is a commonly cultivated bromeliad species.
For best care, place the plant in bright, indirect light. Water weekly in the growing season and bi-monthly in the winter. The best way to water tillandsia is to submerge them in a bowl of lukewarm water for 10 to 20 minutes. Then shake them vigorously and turn them upside down to dry in an area with good air flow. When they are completely dry, you can place them back in their spot. We also recommend adding air plant fertilizer to their baths in the growing season (April-October).
These plants are enhanced with a foliage-safe coloring.
