Oxalis regnellii, aka the Fasle Shamrock, has a trick up its sleeve- it can move! This plant's leaves open in the mornings and close at night in a phenomenon called Nyctinasty, which is when a plant physically responds to the circadian rhythm of night and day via closing and opening their leaves. Provide your oxalis with as much light as you can- these plants can even take a few hours of direct sun! Too little light will cause them to go dormant. Make sure to err on the side of dryness as these plants will go into dormancy if their soil is too wet for too long. Allow the top few inches of soil to dry out between waterings. You might find yourself watering once every 10 days in the growing season and once every 2-3 weeks in the dormant season. keep in a warm location- these plants do not like temperatures under 60 degrees. These plants don't need humidity, but it is appreciated. Fertilize 1-2 times per month during the growing season.
These plants do have a dormancy period- if yours starts to look like it is dying, it might just be going dormant for the summer. Move to a cool, dark place until you notice new shoots of growth popping up, and then you can gradually expose it to more light.
