Styling 101: Reinvent Your Tencel Button-Up
You already know that a basic button-up shirt is an absolute wardrobe essential, but we'd like to introduce a couple of ways you can style it that you might not have considered before!
In this post, we'll be giving our luxe, lustrous Tencel button-up shirts the spotlight they deserve. The eco-conscious material of these tops is soft and breathable with a lovely drape, making it one of our very favorite fabrics. The versatility and comfortability of this shirt makes it suitable for a multitude of occasions. Read on to discover your favorite way to style it!
Layer it
One of our favorite ways to style our Maile shirt is unbuttoned, over an outfit of your choice. This style looks great paired with a casual dress, a tunic and leggings, or a tank or tee and high waisted jeans. For a casual, tomboy-like style, wear the Maggie Tencel Shirt over a band/graphic tee tucked into high waist straight leg jeans.
Tie it around your waist
For a casual, flirty look, try tying the Maggie shirt around your waist. This effortlessly cool look adds a bit of volume to your hips area (very flattering on "rectangle" body types!). The shirt hanging around your waist creates a feminine skirt-type effect, yet it's still perfectly suitable to wear with your favorite jeans!
Try a half-tuck
Looking for a stylish way to tuck in your shirt? Consider a half-tuck. Paired with a distressed or boyfriend jean, this laid-back look will have you weekend-ready. For a more balanced look, try half-tucking your shirt into a tailored pant, like our Deanna Tencel Trouser.
Tie it in front
For a cute, fitted looking style, try tying the Tencel shirt in front. This way of styling will appear a bit cropped, so it looks great with a high rise pant, skirt, or over a dress!
One Shoulder | Off-The-Shoulder
To try this alluring look, unbutton the shirt enough so that you can slide the neckline over to reveal a shoulder. You can also reveal both shoulders and then fold the fabric inwards so that the shirt feels more secure. Accentuate the glam factor of this look by layering necklaces, or try a statement earring. This is a great way to take your look from work attire to night-out ready!
Make it a Jumpsuit
If you've been following EcoVibe for very long, you've probably noticed that we strongly support the jumpsuit movement that's been happening. If you feel timid about jumping into this trend, you could try out the look with this commitment-free trick: pair our Maile Tencel Button Up in Navy with our Flynn Tencel Tie Pants in Indigo. These two items are the same material and color, so with the shirt tucked into a pant, it looks just like a jumpsuit!
Wear it belted
For a no-fail look that'll accentuate your curves, opt for a T-Shirt dress with the Maile or Maggie Tencel Shirt open. To achieve this look, cinch the waistline of the top with a belt or a lightweight jacket.
Since you're visually creating a waistline with a belt, just make sure that the waistline of your pants or dress is not visible, ie. wearing a top/tunic that will be long enough to cover your bottom half. This way, you will have only one clearly visible waistline.
Who knew that styling a basic button up shirt could be so fun and creative! We hope we've inspired you to reinvent this classic piece in a way that makes you feel new and refreshed.
